Board Member Position Open The members of the Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors (IPELS) serve 5-year terms and are appointed by the Governor. This year there are two (2) positions which have completed a term of office or are otherwise subject to an appointment by the Governor. If you are interested in making a difference for engineers and surveyors in Idaho and protecting the public and want to fill a PE position on IPELS, please navigate to https://gov.idaho.gov/appointments/ and click on the link to the Application for Appointment. -- NCEES Exam Results Interested in whether or not you passed the PE Exam? Go to your ncees.org account. The scores were released last Thursday (12/12/19) by NCEES. Congrats to all those who've made the grade! -- Retired License renewal fee eliminated! At the last Board meeting, the Board approved removing the renewal fee for retired licenses. These licenses may wish to renew in order to remain on the mailing list and receive notices from the Board, but the fee will be $0. The actions required to renew these licenses online will be to verify the retiree's contact information and for the retiree to acknowledge the renewal certification. Reinstatement from retired status to active status is $150 (active license renewal fee) and the fee is the same for expired or active retirees. Retirees are exempt from CPD, but in order to reinstate to active status, in addition to the fee, they must comply with the CPD Rule requirements for reinstatement. Executive Review of Occupational Licensing Requirements IPELS supports the review of Idaho Licensing requirements. You can read our Final Response 6-7-18 . -- Welcome our Newest Staff Member: Tom Judge, P.L.S., CFedS Tom Judge has been hired as the new Deputy Director-Surveying. Tom has been surveying for nearly 40 years, the last 20 years being based in Boise. His most recent position was as a senior surveyor and Boise County Surveyor. See our FAQ for answers to your questions. -- NCEES Seeks Help with Prof Activities and Knowledge Study for Industrial and Systems Engineering PE Exam NCEES is seeking licensed industrial and systems engineers to participate in an online survey as part of the professional activities and knowledge study for the PE Industrial and Systems exam. This survey will be used to update the specifications for the exam. The information is posted online at http://ncees.org/ncees-seeks-industrial-systems-engineers-professional-expertise-advice/ . A PDF of the news release is also available for download on this page. -- EIT/EI eligible for the PE? An email was sent to all those EI/EITs that are now eligible to take the PE (since decoupling the exam from the experience) on 11-15-19. It provided a heads-up on the upcoming April 2020 exam cycle and noted a PE Exam review course by University of Idaho Signing up for the national examinations is easy! It is easy for engineering and surveying students and professional applicants to register for the examinations. All applicants for the examinations may now enroll directly with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) at www.ncees.org/exams Registration for the CBT PE Mechanical, Fire Protection, and Industrial and Systems exams opened on Monday, November 4, 2019. For the PE Mechanical exam, the first appointments will begin in April 2020. For the PE Fire Protection and Industrial and Systems exams, their date will be October 22, 2020. Volunteer to help the 2017 Idaho Science & Engineering Fair From Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 8:00am to 4:00pm NOTE The time given is for the entire event. You can sign up for a shift. Judges and Volunteers are needed for the Western Idaho Science & Engineering Fair. This is the first year for this event, which is a qualifier for the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair. Tomkinson as a Public Member to the Board replacing David Bennion, P.E., on July 19, 2016. John was the General Services Manager when he retired after 27 years with Idaho Transportation Department. He also served in the Idaho National Guard as a Utility Warrant Officer until 1985 when he completed twenty years of service. John graduated from Boise State with a B.B.A.-Economics and Marketing. He currently serves on the Western Idaho Fair Board and the Star Chamber of Commerce in addition to his Board duties. He’s a past member of City of Star Economic Development Committee and served on ADA County Planning and Zoning Committee (four years as Chairman). -- 30 August 2016 Newsletter Email Debacle Our apologies. When we passed the updated list of email addresses to our host (OCIO Idaho) and they uploaded them in bulk to the listserv application they host for us, about have of the fully moderate flags didn't get set. What that meant was that for everyone whose moderate flag wasn't set and who replied to the group email address, their reply went to the whole list serv again (and again and again). We were able to get the OCIO to reset those flags and stop the proliferation of emails by about 1:30 pm 8-30-16 -- so about 3 hrs of additional emails were sent out. The OCIO hopes to have new software with better controls in place for the next newsletter email - which will be in about six (6) months or so. Thank you, thank you to all who didn't reply and simply routed the extra mail to the trash.
